Marvin C. Nussbaumer, age 94, passed away on October 10, 2016, at Bethel Lutheran Nursing Home in Oshkosh. Marvin was born on January 12, 1922, in Neenah, and grew up on a dairy farm west of Neenah. After finishing grade school, he worked as a hired laborer at the Boss Farms northwest of Oshkosh. On June 19, 1947, Marvin married Bernice Volp of Winneconne, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. In 1954, the couple moved to Omro and joined Grace Lutheran Church, where Marvin served as a Trustee. Marvin worked as a carpenter and block layer for Oshkosh house builders, and built milk houses for local farmers. As an employee of the Winnebago County Highway Department from 1959 to 1986, Marvin plowed snow every winter and mowed grass along road sides every summer. He was an avid gardener. From 1960 to 2008 Marvin and Bernice played "Old Time" dance music at hundreds of wedding receptions and parties in Winnebago County.
In retirement, the couple travelled in the U.S., Europe, and Australia. They moved to Gabriel's Villa in 2010 and to Bethel Home in 2012.
Marvin was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice, in 2015; his parents, Gottfried and Bessie Nussbaumer; and a brother, Alvin.
He is survived by sisters, Edith Hebbe, of Neenah, and Myrna Picchiottino, of Oshkosh; son, Roy Nussbaumer, of Appleton; son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Maribeth Nussbaumer, of Brookfield; grandchildren, Blake Nussbaumer, of Brookfield, and Courtney Nussbaumer, of Madison; nephews, nieces, neighbors, and friends.
