Marvin Arden Tellock, age 88, of Oshkosh died Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh. He was born August 13, 1928, in Oshkosh to the late Edward and Marie (Maack) Tellock.
Marvin served his country in Korea. He was a very devout and proud veteran of the United States Army and cherished his medallion he had recently been given on the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. to visit the war memorials he had attended with his younger brother Merle.
On September 23, 1950, he married Kathryn Stine and they had seven children. For 27 years Marvin worked as a plasterer and then he was employed by Oshkosh Truck as a material handler for 17 years until his retirement. Marvin truly enjoyed white-tailed deer hunting, fishing, gardening, and one of his favorite pastimes was playing cribbage and sheepshead with family and friends whenever he could. Marvin and some friends formed the Crowbar Club, a card playing group. He also could have been an announcer for the Green Bay Packers. Marvin was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Oshkosh.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 66 years, Kathryn Ann Tellock; six children, Sharon Kay (Jerome) Pongratz, James Marvin Tellock, Pamela Dawn Luedtke, Sheila Lynn (Marvin) Luedtke, Maureen Faye (Kurt) Carpenter, Darwin Edward Tellock; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and one on the way; two brothers, Ralph Tellock, Merle Tellock; sister-in-law, Pat Tellock; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Along with his parents, Marvin was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Tellock; a grandson, Daniel Pongratz; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Gladys and Robert Peerenboom, Delores and Don Doman; and a sister-in-law, Barb Tellock.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, November 14, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. until Noon at Bethlehem Lutheran Church 1206 Ontario St. Oshkosh. A funeral service will be held on Monday at Noon at the church with Pastor Paul Lidtke officiating. Military honors will follow. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh.
Marvin's family wishes to thank the Mercy Medical Center ER nurses and doctors, and the staff at Westbrooke Manor for all of the care shown to him.

Bev Jurgensen - Director of the Y Nots Senior Chorus wrote on November 11, 2016
I first met Marvin when the Y Nots came to Westbrook to perform. Marvin always sat first row and center. He loved our singing and choice of songs. Marvin sang almost every song with us! Sometimes he was so touched that he would get tears in his eyes. We could never end a program without singing, "God Bless America". I have wonderful memories of Marvin. I am so very sorry for your loss. He was a wonderful man! We sang at Eastbrook on Thursday and wondered why Marvin hadn't come over from Westbrook to be with us. This morning when we were told of his death, it was almost unbelievable! You have our deepest sympathy. God bless you all. The Y Nots and Bev Jurgensen
