Philip "Phil" Tegelman, age 95, of Winneconne, died Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Mercy Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh. He was born May 7, 1921, to the late Harold, Sr. and Clara (Cameron) Tegelman, and was a lifelong Winneconne resident except for his time in the Army. Phil was a 1940 graduate of Winneconne High School. Phil served his country in World War II with the U.S. Army 32nd Red Arrow Division. On October 18, 1945, he married Norma Josi in Evanston, Illinois. For many years Phil was employed by the State of Wisconsin at the Winnebago County Mental Health Institute until his retirement. For almost 25 years Phil and Norma spent their winters in California with their daughter Donna. He was a hard worker who enjoyed doing yardwork and was an avid Packer and Milwaukee Braves/Brewers fan.
Phil is survived by his wife of 71 years, Norma Tegelman; two children, Alan (Patricia) Tegelman, Donna (Andrew Ranzieri) Tegelman; grandchildren, Lori (Roman III) Jungers, Debbie (Michael) Paul; two great-granddaughters, Kimberly and Courtney Jungers; a brother, Harold Tegelman Jr.; a sister, Harriet "Tippy" Hotchkiss; and other relatives and friends.
Along with his parents, Phil was also preceded in death by two brothers and a sister, John and Russell Tegelman, and Lucille Miller.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, April 8, 2017, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church 210 Pleasant Dr. Winneconne. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Doug LeCaptain and Sr. Pam Biehl officiating. Military honors will follow. Burial will be on Monday, April 10 in Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh.
A memorial in Phil's name has been established for the Oshkosh Area Humane Society.
Phil's family wishes to thank the caring neighbors for all of their assistance over the past years. They also appreciate all of the great care and compassion shown to him from the staff at Gabriel's Villa, Oshkosh.
