Mark Johnson, age 67, of Oshkosh, passed away, Tuesday, August 30, 2022. He was born November 19, 1954, in Oconto to Paul and Jackie (DeHut) Johnson.

On January 26, 1997, Mark married Lisa Martin, this year celebrating 25 wonderful married years together. He worked for the State of Wisconsin until his retirement. Mark was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, gardening, Wordle, volunteer work, watching the Badgers, Brewers, Bucks, and Packers religiously, and shit talking. Some quotes by Mark: “The grass is always greener when you water with your wiener.” “Better to be a smart ass than a dumb ass.” He had a love for music that he shared and bonded over with his family and friends. Mark also loved to “go for a ride” and meander all over town. Mark always made sure to tell you he loved you, hugged you or gave you a squeeze on the shoulder. Due to his health issues, he knew time was limited for him and he wanted to make sure to let those he loved know it. He was there for everyone unconditionally, showing up unexpectedly to help those in need, and was always appreciated for his selfless acts of kindness. Mark also had a great love for animals, and had been known to bring home one in need from time to time. He spent his final years with Maggie Mae and Jordy by his side.

Mark had a great love for his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Johnson; children, Crystal, Autumn (Jeremy), Paul, Rachel (Josh), Josh (Terah), Nickie, Michael (Jess); grandchildren, Jason, Aryah, Cohen, Izayah, Brynn, Hunter, Ethan, Aubrey; his siblings, Mary (John), Jim (Amy), Fran (Catherine), Judy (Bill), Joe, Nancy (Dean), Greg (Viki); mother-in-law, Jean Martin; Lisa’s siblings, Butch (Laura), Gretchen (Phil); and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close friends.

Preceding Mark in death were his father, Paul Johnson; mother and stepfather, Jackie and Bob Bertram; a brother, Roger; a sister, Diane; father-in-law, David Martin; and a nephew, William.

Mark's wishes to have a Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 4, 2022, starting at 1:00 p.m. at TNT Tap 359 W. 17th Ave. Oshkosh. In honor of Mark feel free to wear your best Hawaiian shirt. Mark requested that there be a party so…Come have a party, “play a train song pour me one more round” and celebrate the life of a great man.

I will miss you my friend. Some of the best times I had were in the Quetico . You taught me a lot about fishing and the beauty of nature. What an experience we shared. I will be thinking of you every time I am canoeing or in the woods. An honor to know you and work with you. Kempster Hall was a better time with you. We will see each other soon my friend…
