Vivian A. Engel, 97, of Larsen, died Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at Evergreen Retirement Community in Oshkosh. She was born in Oshkosh, WI on October 13, 1925, to the late Carl and Alma (Much) Linstedt. Vivian was a 1943 graduate of Winneconne High School. On June 17, 1944, she married Edwin Engel in the Town of Winchester. They lived and farmed in the Town of Winchester until 1981, at which time they moved to the Town of Wolf River. After 63 years of marriage, Edwin preceded Vivian in death in 2007. She worked as the office secretary for Winchester Mutual Insurance Company for 21 years and was a lifelong member of St Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Larsen, WI. In her retirement, Vivian enjoyed spending time with family, reading, gardening, traveling, sewing, re-upholstering and crafting. She also enjoyed staying active by biking, cross-country skiing, ice skating, snow tubing and helping on the family farm.

Vivian is survived by seven children: Carol (John) Anderson, of Oak Creek, WI; Marde (Mike) Doolan, of Ann Arbor, MI; LaMae (Scott) Roberts, of Geneva, IL; Larry (Karen) Engel, Gary (Cathy) Engel, all of Larsen, WI; Laurie Engel, of DeForest, WI; Renee (fiancé, Curt Kiesow) Engel, of Larsen, WI; fourteen grandchildren: Tracy (Adam) Fritz, Heather (Pete) Czechorski, David (fiancée, Tracy Dyke) Anderson, Sean Doolan, Meghan (Richard) Wollack, Jenna (Michael) Boland, Nick (Jessica) Engel, Alicia (Wade Moder) Engel-Moder, Anna (Nik) Volden,  Raenell (Chase) Straseske, Zeth (Alyssa) Engel, Victoria Engel, Sam Engel and Gwen Orr. She is further survived by fourteen great-grandchildren: Alexander Fritz, Caiden Fritz, Keegan Kopka (Czechorski), Breklyn Boland, Blake Boland, Maliya Engel, Ailana Engel, Cali Engel, Rory Volden, Rowyn Volden, Kyler Straseske, Reese Straseske, Brynlee Straseske, Everett Engel; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Vivian was also preceded in death by one son, Keith; and a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Joan Linstedt.

A visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, July 17, 2023, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church 8630 Cty Rd MM Larsen. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Paul Ibisch officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Peter’s Cemetery #2, Town of Winchester.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Vivian’s name may be made to St. Peter’s Cemetery Association or St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church.
