Lawrence Kriescher, Winchester, passed away December 11, 2023, surrounded by the love of his family, following a long battle with cancer. He was born March 25, 1952, to the late Clifford and Myrtle (Vannieuwenhoven) Kriescher. Larry graduated from Premontre High School in 1970 and continued his education at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and Northeast Wisconsin Technical College. He built himself a career as a land surveyor and operated his own LLC, L.C. Kriescher and Associates, until his retirement.

In 1976, he met, fell in love with, and married Barbara Ann Albers, daughter of the late Clem and Grace Albers. From then until his death, they made their home in Winchester, raising their children, gardening, fishing, and patronizing their favorite breakfast spots and supper clubs. Larry had a deep appreciation for local government and a strong sense of community, leading him to serve as a member of the Winnebago County Board and as a supervisor and chairman of the Town of Winchester. He was particularly proud of his part in establishing the Town of Winchester Fire Department in 2016.

Larry is survived by his soulmate and wife of 47 years, Barb; their daughters and their families, Samantha and Patrick Schmidt, and Vanessa Kriescher, Brandon Rogers and his son Cayson; his sister and brother-in-law, Karen and David Labine; his sister-in-law Sue Kriescher; Barb's siblings and their spouses, Sue and John Hansen, Pat and Patty Albers, Peggy and Steve Frelich, Paul and Valerie Albers, and Jayne and Mike Micksch; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his and Barb's parents, Larry was preceded in death by their infant son, Gregory; his sister, Carol Kriescher; his brother, Ronald Kriescher; his brother-in-law, Peter Albers; and two nephews, Eric Labine and Jacob Micksch.

Very sad to hear of Larry's passing. I got to know Larry (and Barb) in the mid 90's. Joyce and I moved into the home next to theirs in Winchester and my first encounter with Larry was after cutting the lawn for the first time. I apologized to Larry for noticeably going too far over the property line onto his backyard. Without hesitation, Larry said he didn't mind and encouraged me to cut as much of his grass as I wanted. A perfect response for a first neighborly greeting. We really hit it off after that. It was soon after that we started meeting at the property line on a regular basis to share a beer or two or three and laugh about life. I loved his sense of humor and his friendship. In fact, this was the era that I started making homemade brew. In honor of our meetings at the border, I named the Ale, "Borderline Brew", because it was. Larry was gracious enough to tell me the homebrew tasted good, although I think he was just being kind more times than it deserved. We haven't seen Larry (and Barb) for a number of years, but I still remember Larry's laugh like it was yesterday. Rest in peace friend.
