Edward Michael Thull, 71, of Omro, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, after a battle with liver cancer. He was born April 8, 1954, to Barbara (Drover) and Merle Thull. Ed was a 1972 graduate of Berlin High School. On May 10, 1974, he married Deborah Stannard in Oshkosh. Ed was a metal pattern maker and served his apprenticeship with the Universal Foundry in Oshkosh. He then worked in Research & Development at Mercury Marine for 33 years until his retirement.
Ed enjoyed playing baseball, hunting and fishing with his son Travis. Music became a special connection between Ed and his father Merle. They had a lot of nice times entertaining with their wonderful voices; there was always an encore that could last for hours.
Ed is survived by his wife of 50 years, Deborah; his children, Tracey Kroll and Travis Thull; sisters, Diane (Steve) Putzer, Dorene (Gerald) Werch; brother-in-law, William (Lisa) Stannard; sisters-in-law, Judy Weber, Cindy Stannard; mother-in-law, Anna Stannard; grandchildren, Hannah Yang, Tejah Thull, Allison Kroll, Bricarah (Jacob) Semb; great-grandchildren, Lyle and Vivian Olsen, Lennon Yang, Alakia Semb; and other relatives and friends.
Preceding Ed in death were his parents, Barbara and Merle; sister, Laura; brother, Fredrick; father-in-law, Harold Stannard; and brothers-in-law, Steve Stannard and Jeff Weber.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. A service will be held on Saturday, May 10 at 12:00 noon at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow in the Rushford Cemetery. Following the inurnment family and friends are welcome to gather at Tanner’s Tap 207 W. Main St. Omro.
Ed’s family would like to express a special thank you to all of the Compassus Hospice nurses that came and were so kind to Ed; he was truly thankful for all of their help.
